'The Minimalistic Skincare Ritual That Changed My Skin', by Lina Hanson

When we think about caring for our skin, it’s easy to get caught up with all the latest tools and trends – believing that the more products we put on our face, the better our skin will look. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Having worked as a makeup artist in Hollywood for over two decades, I have had the opportunity to work on so many different skin types. Many clients I worked with, would either struggle with dryness or flare ups, and in some cases, skin issues like rosacea or inflammation – all due to using too many active skincare products that did more harm than good.

Throughout the years, in my work and in my own skincare journey, I’ve realized that there is so much beauty in simplicity.

I launched our minimalistic, multi-purpose skincare line Lina Hanson Global Beauty in 2012, with one single product - The Global Face Serum. This was the beginning of my love affair with using less products, with more intention.

I set out on a journey to research and learn as much as I could about ingredients that people around the world have cherished for centuries. What I discovered was that through intentional formulas and rituals using the highest quality ingredients, we can let our skin do what it does best, heal, nurture and nourish - with incredible results!

So today I’m sharing my favourite skincare ritual using the products that have made the biggest difference in my skin.

Lina’s Evening Skincare Ritual

Step 1. OIL CLEANSING

I begin by melting away the days’ dirt and makeup by gently massaging 2-3 pumps of GLOBAL CALM into my skin. Then, I take a hot damp towel and place it on my face for a few seconds. The steam opens the pores and allows the day’s dirt to melt away. Then I gently wipe off the oil to reveal soft, cleansed skin. Essentially, Global Calm is a face oil but I personally love to use it as a cleansing oil too. It’s so nourishing and soothing for the skin and essential oil free so I can remove eye makeup without worries. The subtle scent of fresh cucumber instantly calms and resets me.

Step 2. CLEANSING / EXFOLIATION

I splash some water on my face and pour a teaspoon of GLOBAL FACE TRIO into the palm of my hand. I add ½ teaspoon of water and mix it with the powder to create a creamy paste. Then, I gently massage my skin in circular motions. After 30 seconds or so I rinse it off with water. (About 1-2 times a week, I leave the mixture on my face as a face mask) This powder treatment help to remove impurities, unclog pores, brighten dark spots and give a healthy glow to the skin.

Step 3. MOISTURIZE & NOURISH

While my skin is still damp, I apply one pump of GLOBAL FACE SERUM to my face. I like to massage it into my skin to increase blood circulation. I take a moment to inhale the beautiful scent of palmarosa and mandarin, which instantly relaxes me. Global Face Serum restores vitality to the skin to reveal former, bouncier and more radiant skin.

Step 4. LOCK IN MOISTURE / DEPUFF

I finish the ritual with the GLOBAL TREASURES balm. I gently melt the balm between my fingertips and pat the balm under the eyes, massaging it on my neck area and any other areas where there is dryness or irritation. On days when my skin is extra dull or irritated, I apply the balm all over my face and take my time to massage it into my face, neck and decolletage. Global Treasures is jam-packed with antioxidants using ingredients like coffee bean, 24 K Gold, Matcha Green Tea and Pearl to soften, depuff, and soothe skin. The scent of warm vanilla and cacao warms my senses and is the perfect ending to this skincare ritual.

RECAP

Incorporating an evening ritual to close each day, is my favourite way to take a little time to care for my skin. It’s my time to unwind, forget about the daily stresses and practice some stillness and connection. I encourage you to do the same – spend a little more time caring for your skin – not with more products, but with an intentional ritual that feels good to you.

Love, Lina
