Ascorbic acid is a vitamer of vitamin C known for its antioxidant potential. It is a strong candidate for the prevention and treatment of aging skin. Upon contact with water it quickly begins to oxidize, change colour, and lose its efficacy. It is best used in water-free formulations or those intended for use within 1-3 days.

Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, dark place. Heat, oxygen, liquid, and light degrade the product.
Use at a maximum 15% dilution in lotions & creams to improve skin tone, elasticity, & fine lines. Extremely volatile once in contact with water, and as such, is best used in water-free formulations. May also be used in water-based products intended for use in 1-3 days; if the product changes colour, notably to a dark yellow, discard and make a fresh batch. Sometimes used in combination with baking soda, in place of citric acid, for fizzing bath salts or seltzers.
